People cry out when they are oppressed. They groan beneath the power of the mighty. Yet they don’t ask, ‘Where is God my Creator, the one who gives songs in the night?" Job 35:9-10 NLT
How often I come to God crying and moaning. I'm in full blown panic and hurry in and pray a quick "God, please help me!" I cry and groan and plead.
In those moments I forget to simply enjoy the sweet presence of my Lord. I fail to move beyond my anguish and seek Him and Him alone.
The beauty of His face, the Holiness of His temple, the solitude and peace of His presence...they all await me if I seek Him.
As I choose to seek the Problem Solver instead of the solution to my problem, my heart is filled with songs of praise and worship.
"I adore you, Oh Lord. Nothing I long for compares to You, to the richness of your presence. This world in all its splendor pales in comparison to intimacy with You. I desire to find You in the secret place that You have set aside for just the two of us! And in that place no sorrow or grief can enter. For with You I find joy unspeakable. I long for You and You alone! My flesh and my heart may fail, but You are my strength and my portion forever! You have put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to my God. Many will see and hear and put their trust in My God!"
“speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:19-20 NIV
Has your quiet time been more of a hurried rush of SOS prayers? Is there a song that brings your attention back to a place of rejoicing before God? If so, sing it! If not, ask the Lord to put a new song in your heart.
Can you hear your own whisper as it finds its breath in song? The Lord is calling you to rejoice in him. He sees you and embraces you. He longs to hear your praise. He inhabits the praises of his children.
Dear Lord,
We look to You. We praise You. We sing to You! We rejoice in You.
Amen.
Beautiful Blessings. Dawn
