“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” Psalm 46:5 NIV
Upon awakening this morning, my mind was filled with these words. "God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at the break of day."
While this Old Testament scripture refers to the city of Jerusalem, it is also symbolic of the Lord's presence in our lives as believers. He reassures us that because he is in us, we will not fall. We will not be overtaken by the attacks of the enemy or the circumstances that often seem to guarantee certain failure. And his help comes early, at the break of day.
Ruminating over them, I wondered if I really believed these words the Lord had carefully penned long ago as though they were written especially with me in mind? Would he help me if I got up and listened for his still small voice?
The Lord always speaks to me in the early morning hours. That’s when he tries to get my full attention. How quickly I want to rush out the door and get on with it, but is this the right way to start my day when the only true God is living in me? I have so much on my mind and on my agenda. We all do. "Hurry" calls us to get a move-on. "Angst" tells us to get up and get to fixing.
In the quiet morning hours, God speaks tenderly and reminds us that He dwells within us. He has set up residency in our hearts. His presence has made us sturdy and resilient. We will not fall, for we are built on a firm foundation, a foundation of faith.
Yes, storms will come. People will hurt us. Life will disappoint us. Still, we will stand. And his help comes early. When we rise, he is there waiting for us. Will you accept his invitation?
Dear Lord,
We are so awed by your willingness to dwell in us. We are so unworthy, but still, you made your home in our hearts. We will awake and greet you in the early morning hours, and there we will find our strength.
In Jesus name. Amen.
Beautiful Blessings, Dawn
